From Harvard breakthrough to global platform.
Lasso began at Harvard, where founders Grant Gonzalez and Luke Macqueen pioneered a way to spin plant proteins into fibers. Today, they’re scaling that breakthrough into a technology platform for the world’s most forward-thinking brands.
Our Team
-
Luke Macqueen
Co-Founder & CSO
Luke is a scientist whose work at Harvard’s Wyss Institute explored how to recreate the structure and function of biological tissues using advanced material systems. His interest in building better food through science led to years of research focused on translating bioinspired design into scalable manufacturing. He brings a deep commitment to applying science and engineering toward a more sustainable food future
-
Grant Gonzalez
Co-Founder & CTO
Grant is a Harvard-trained materials scientist who developed Lasso’s core fiber-spinning technology, which enables the creation of food with dramatically improved texture and versatility. He spent years at Harvard University’s Wyss Institute working at the intersection of tissue engineering and advanced fabrication to turn cutting-edge research into real-world applications.
